“THE BUDDHA’S WORDS IN THE LANDSCAPE OF INDIA”
Where: Sangha Hall, 424 Kilauea Ave., Hilo

Details: The compassionate teachings of the Buddha are as relevant today as they were 2,500 years ago in India, as explored in this photo exhibit. Photographs of sacred places in India and commentary by modern-day Buddhist scholars. Opening reception will include talk-story with two local Buddhist scholars who will offer their thoughts on how Buddha’s teachings are applicable to our modern daily lives. Exhibit is being hosted concurrently with Hilo Betsuin’s obon celebration. Hatsubon services are scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday and July 15 at Hilo Betsuin, 398 Kilauea Ave. Obon dancing follows on both nights at Sangha Hall after the service. Festival food and treats will be sold by the temple’s youth organizations. Obon service is at 9 a.m. July 16 at Hilo Betsuin. Public invited to all obon events.
